(JUBA) – The Juba Electricity Distribution Company has announced a planned three week period of power rationing across the capital as it carries out major maintenance work at its generation plant.

The company said the maintenance exercise will run from 8 June 2026 to 28 June 2026 and is intended to improve reliability, efficiency and overall stability of electricity supply in Juba and surrounding service areas.

During this period, electricity generation capacity will be reduced, leading to scheduled and rotating power interruptions across different parts of the city. JEDCO stated that outages will be managed under a structured timetable to distribute supply fairly among affected areas.

The utility firm explained that the maintenance work is necessary to upgrade and service key generation infrastructure. It added that the work is expected to be completed within three weeks, after which normal supply levels are expected to gradually resume.

Customers have been advised to plan ahead for daily interruptions, which are expected mainly during evening and night hours, with most outages scheduled between 5:00 pm and 12:00 am, depending on the feeder line.

JEDCO has also encouraged households and businesses to follow official communication channels for daily updates, including social media pages, service centres and public notices. The company said adjustments to the schedule may be made if operational conditions require it.

Security and technical teams will monitor the system throughout the maintenance period to ensure controlled distribution of available power and to reduce unexpected disruptions.

The company apologised for any inconvenience caused and stated that the maintenance is part of long term efforts to strengthen electricity supply stability in the capital, where demand continues to rise alongside urban growth and commercial activity.
