(LYON) – LDLC ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket has signed South Sudan international swingman Both Gach ahead of the 2026 27 Betclic Elite Pro A season, strengthening its squad with an experienced European and international player.

The club confirmed that the 27 year old player, who also holds American nationality, has agreed terms as part of its preparations for the new campaign. He becomes the second foreign signing for the French side, following the earlier arrival of Mali’s Amadou Sow.

Gach joins ASVEL after a strong season with JL Bourg en Bresse in the French top division, where he featured in 33 league games and averaged 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. His performances also extended into European competition, where he played 24 EuroCup matches and recorded averages of 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

His consistency across domestic and continental competitions earned him individual recognition, including EuroCup Forward of the Year and selection to the EuroCup Second Team by Eurobasket.com. These honours reflect his growing profile within European basketball.

In the 2024 25 season, Gach played in Turkey with Darussafaka Lassa in the Basketball Super League, further adding to his experience across competitive European leagues. He has also previously played in Finland with Nokia and in Kosovo with Sigal Prishtina, building a career across multiple basketball systems.

During his time in Finland, Gach won the national league championship in 2024. He also received individual awards including Finnish Korisliiga Player of the Year and Import Player of the Year, underlining his impact during that campaign.

Gach has been a regular member of the South Sudan senior national basketball team since 2025, contributing to the country’s growing presence in international basketball competitions. His continued involvement reflects South Sudan’s expanding footprint in the sport at elite level.

He completed his university basketball development in the United States, graduating from the University of Utah in 2022 after also spending time at the University of Minnesota. The upcoming season will mark his fifth year as a professional player.

ASVEL’s latest signing is seen as part of its strategy to reinforce depth and experience in key positions as the club prepares for domestic and European competitions in the 2026 27 season.
