(UST-LABINSK, KRASNODAR KRAI) – A fire at an oil depot in the Russian city of Ust-Labinsk has continued burning for a second day following a Ukrainian drone attack, according to local reports.
The oil refinery, supplied by the Russian oil company Lukoil, was struck overnight on 6 June. Footage circulating on social media shows local residents observing the blaze from the windows of their homes.
“Just look at the beauty created by the sacred UAVs of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine. Locals in Ust-Labinsk can enjoy Putin’s ‘Special Military Operation’ right from their apartments; they do not even need the internet, MAX, or a TV. Footage for the Valdai and Moscow air defence operators,” read one post on local social media channels.
The facility remains ablaze as emergency services struggle to contain the fire.
The strike on the Ust-Labinsk depot was part of a broader series of operations conducted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 6 June. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian forces attacked the “Kronshtadt” base, multiple oil depots and unmanned aerial vehicle control points belonging to the Russian military.
The Ust-Labinsk facility represents a significant node in Russia’s fuel supply infrastructure. Lukoil, one of Russia’s largest oil companies, operates the depot, which serves both military and civilian needs in the Krasnodar region.
