(YAMBIO) – Customs operations will expand to six key border points across Western Equatoria State in a push to improve revenue collection, border security and trade facilitation, following a meeting between the state governor and customs officials.

The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, met on Monday with the Assistant Commissioner of the South Sudan Revenue Authority Customs Division in the state, Col. Juma M. Adams, and other customs officials to discuss strengthening cooperation between the state government and the Customs Division.

Col. Adams said after the meeting that the Customs Division plans to expand operations to Gangura, Nabiapai, Sakure, Ezo, Tambura and Iba:

“We met with the Governor to brief him on our responsibilities, including revenue collection, trade facilitation, border protection, and cooperation with the state government.” 

Governor Rimbasa welcomed the initiative and pledged the full support of the state government:

“I appreciate your professionalism and commitment. We will work together to strengthen revenue collection and ensure taxes are managed transparently. The Government of Western Equatoria State is fully committed to supporting your work.”
