(JUBA) – A team from the African Development Bank visited the data centre of the South Sudan Revenue Authority at its headquarters in Juba on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, as part of an assessment mission focused on the institution’s digital infrastructure and systems for managing data.
The visit was aimed at gaining a clearer understanding of how the authority collects, stores, and uses revenue related information to support tax administration and decision making processes within the country’s public finance system.
During the engagement, the Deputy Commissioner for Information Technology, Mou Bol Abiem, received the delegation and presented an overview of the operations of the data centre. He explained the structure of the system and how it supports the management of tax and revenue records.
He further outlined how the platform is used to gather and organise information linked to taxpayers, including registered individuals and organisations. He also noted that the system maintains records connected to crude oil production data, which remains a key component of national revenue streams.
According to the presentation, the data infrastructure plays a central role in monitoring revenue performance, improving compliance levels among taxpayers, and supporting wider efforts by the authority to modernise its operations through digital tools.
Mr Abiem also stressed that the ongoing digital transformation programme is intended to improve accuracy in reporting and strengthen the ability of the authority to make informed decisions based on reliable data.
The visiting team from the African Development Bank reviewed the systems as part of their broader interest in supporting institutional capacity building and strengthening public sector financial management frameworks in South Sudan.
